Thailand pig farm stricken with AH1N1

A pig farm in Bangkok's Kasetsart University Saraburi campus has been quarantined on Thursday (Dec 17) after pigs were detected with the AH1N1 flu virus.

According to local media reports, the pig farm is located in Tab-guang sub-district of Gang-khoui district in a central province of Saraburi.

The quarantine was announced after the AH1N1-infected pig was confirmed by both the Thai public health ministry and agriculture ministry. Under the quarantine declaration, the Department of Livestock Development has set up a check point to contain movements of pigs in the area.

In a related development to create awareness to consumers and farmers, the agriculture ministry has campaigned to seek cooperation from raisers not to enter their pig farms if the raisers develop the flu-liked symptoms.
