We will keep to ASEAN-China FTA, says Indonesia
Indonesia will adhere to implementing the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area in January next year.
Hatta Rajasa, Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economy, made the commitment on Thursday.
"Generally, we do not have any reason for not to implement the FTA, but (at the same time) we want to protect our national interest," he said after a cabinet meeting.
Bayu Krisnamurthi, Indonesian Vice Minister of Agriculture, said that the free trade would benefit Indonesia. As an example, he cited the agribusiness, which would have hike on its trade.
Indonesian Finance Ministry has said it will reduce over 800 commodities' tariffs ahead of January 1, and all import tariffs would be abolished under the free trade.
