Seafish CEO to retire

UK's Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish) announced earlier this week that CEO John Rutherford will retire at the end of June 2010.

According to the organisation Seafish is already searching for a successor, which will be hired by March.

''I have had the privilege of serving the seafood industry in what must rank as one of the industry's best jobs for the past eight years,'' said Rutherford.

''John leaves behind a legacy of performance improvement and accountability, and our heartfelt thanks go to him on behalf of industry for the vigor and intelligence he has brought to this important role,'' said Seafish chairman Charles Howeson.

Seafish is the nation's cross-industry seafood body working with fishermen, processors, wholesalers, seafood farmers, fish friers, caterers, retailers and the import and export trade.
