Kazakhstan to increase grain export volumes to Azerbaijan

 

 

Since the beginning of the year, Kazakh grain supplies volumes to Azerbaijan increased by four times during the period when the country exported about one million tonnes of grains, according to Serik Primbetov, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Azerbaijan.

 

Commodities turnover between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan during the period of January-September, 2010, amounted to US$257 million, according to Serik Primbetov, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Azerbaijan.

 

In the current year, Azerbaijani-Kazakh joint venture, Baku grain terminal, had effective work and the enterprise arranged for modern flour producing mill to produce high-quality flour, noted the Ambassador.

 

JV Baku grain terminal is equipped with five ensilage and has a capacity of 15,000 tonnes for temporary grain storage. Grain terminal production capacity for grain shipment amounted to 300 tonnes/hour with the annual shipment volume of 500,000 tonnes of grains. Furthermore, the Azerbaijani Republic needs provision with high-quality grains and the Baku terminal is the important element of Kazakh grain re-exports to the countries of Caucasian, the Black Sea regions and the EU countries.

 

Grain volumes are supplied from Kazakhstan by marine ways from the port Aktau.

 

Azerbaijani grain needs a total of three million tonnes annually. Grain production volumes in the country decreased compared to last year when the country reached the record grain production volume. As of December 1, the country produced 1.7 million tonnes of grains.
