China's 2010 meat output up 2.6%
China's meat products output is projected to reach 78.5 million tonnes in 2010, up 2.6% over last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) Thursday (Dec 16).
The country's eggs output is likely to rise 1.5% this year to 27.6 million tonnes while its dairy products will edge up 0.2% to 37.4 million tonnes, MoA said.
China's pork output in 2009 topped 50 million tonnes, accounting for more than 65% of its total meat production.
Last year, the country's per capita meat consumption was 57.3 kg, the China Meat Association said in a report.
Chinese government has set the target of annual meat output of 86 million tonnes and per capita meat consumption 61 kg by 2015.
