Vietnam to purchase 10,000 Canadian cattle
Vietnam's largest dairy plant operator, TH Milk, has confirmed the order of 10,000 Canadian dairy cattle, which is the largest single order for Canadian cattle for 10 years and the biggest ever to Asia.
The new opening could be worth up to CAD20 million (US$19 million) for Canada's dairy farmers, the government has speculated.
On-going discussions between the Canadian Livestock Genetics Association and the dairy giant assisted the deal, said Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz.
He said the deal is promising for the sector and Canada is pleased to have been able to help advance this exciting trade opportunity for their hardworking cattle producers.
"Vietnam holds great potential for growth in the dairy sector, and it is no surprise that Canadian dairy cattle are being eyed for this deal given their world renowned recognition for superior quality," Ritz added.
