Angola's Baia Farta exports nearly 1,000 tonnes fishmeal to Asia
About 1,000 tonnes of fishmeal produced in the Pesca Fresca Company in Baia Farta, in Benguela Province of Angola, will be exported to China, Japan, Thailand and South Korea and North Korea.
The product will be exported from the port of Walvis Bay, Namibia, through a ship named Solango, with a capacity of 1,772 tonnes, which arrived in the town of Baia Farta.
According to the administrative director of the company, Francisco Gabriel, it was initially expected for the first phase an exportation of 500 tonnes of fishmeal, but due to the boat capacity and production levels, the company will export about 1,000 tonnes.
The loading operation involved over 40 workers. The goods has been transported to Walvis Bay (Namibia), where the meal will be shipped to Asian countries.
The Pesca Fresca company, which opened in November, through a purchase of US$5 million, involving business people from Angola, Namibia and South Africa, is the first one in Baia Farta to restart the export of fishmeal, paralysed after Angola's independence in 1975.
