Methionine prices sink to new lows in China
Prices fell further during the week ended December 11.
Price quotes of imported dl-methionine dropped to the range of RMB29.50-30/kg, while transacted prices slid to RMB28.40-28.80/kg.
Slow demand from the poultry sector decimated the sales of methionine, dragging down prices over the week. Moreover, buyers who were restocking inventories were reluctant to accumulate high inventories as the outlook of the livestock markets remained uncertain.
Methionine market is expected to remain soft amid ample supplies and cautious buying mood. Additionally, as a local producer has started operation, excess supplies of methionine will exert further pressure on the market.
