Demand for hog strengthened as cured meat production increased while slaughterhouses expanded stockpiles in preparation for higher pork consumption ahead. Foot-and mouth diseases were reported in several provinces, Sichuan, Henan, Jiangsu and Hebei, hence reducing the supplies of hogs.
