China lifts poultry ban from two US states

China lifted bans on poultry and poultry product imports from two US states, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said Monday (Nov 13).

Import bans affecting the products from Idaho and Kentucky were lifted after the US reported to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) bird flu in the two states had been eliminated, according to the statement issued jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture.

China had banned poultry and poultry product imports from the two states in late 2008 and early 2009, respectively, after the outbreaks of bird flu.
