Shanghai Maling to resume exports after safety checks

Shanghai Maling is anticipated to resume export of canned pork after safety checks, despite a setback of contaminated batch in December.

However, the group acknowledged the findings of Hong Kong's food safety officials who had detected traces of nitrofurans metabolite.

On December 3, Hong Kong's food and environment hygiene department announced that low levels of the substance were found in canned meat products.

The Shanghai entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau immediately suspended exports of all the company's food products on December 6.

Zhang Guanghui, deputy director of the bureau, assured that authorities in Shanghai had strengthened efforts to ensure food safety.
