Italy's Jan-Sep wheat imports drop to 3.2 million tonnes
From January-September 2012, Italy's soft wheat imports fell to 3.2 million tonnes from 4.1 million tonnes in the same period of 2011.
The Italian cereals body Anacer said on Wednesday (Dec 12) that corn imports fell to 1.4 million tonnes in the January-September period from 1.97 million tonnes in the first nine months of 2011.
Imports of durum wheat, used for making pasta, fell to 1.09 million tonnes in the period from 1.65 million tonnes a year earlier.
