Guangdong's pork exports to Hong Kong reach new highs in November
Guangdong's exports of chilled and frozen pork to Hong Kong in November hit a new high of 959 tonnes, with the export value at US$ 2.95 million, according to Chinainfoworld.
The province exported 8,291 tonnes of frozen and fresh pork to Hong Kong during the first 11 months of the year, according to the Guangdong Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.
This was a 45 percent increase in tonnage and a 85 percent increase in value over 2006 in terms of monthly averages.
Each month, an average of US$2 million worth of pork crossed Guangdong's borders into Hong Kong.
Pork exports have been climbing since mid-year.
From July to November, the average monthly exports of frozen and fresh pork to Hong Kong was worth US$ 2.6 million.
