AFIA to conduct informative workshop during International Poultry Expo
The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) would conduct a free workshop during the 58th Annual International Poultry Expo. The workshop, 'Improving Efficiency in the Feed Mill', would be held Tuesday, Jan 24, from 1:30-5 pm.
The workshop would focus on three major topics: Dr Keith Behnke of Kansas State University would discuss 'Improving Pelleting Quality and Efficiency'; Dr Fred Fairchild of Kansas State University would discuss 'Controlling Energy Costs: Practical Applications to Promote Energy Savings in Your Mill'; and Bob Matthews of Royal Purple would discuss 'Preventative Maintenance: A Cost-Benefit Perspective on the Value of Maintaining Feed Milling Equipment'.
Earlier this year, Don Dalton, president of the US Poultry & Egg Association, and Joel Newman, president of the American Feed Industry Association, announced an agreement to co-locate their respective agricultural expositions beginning January 2007. The action was approved by the executive committee and boards of directors of USPOULTRY and AFIA this summer.
Under the arrangement, the International Poultry Expo would devote space for a separate and distinct feed industry component as part of its annual exposition in Atlanta, Georgia. AFIA would also explore opportunities in developing and conducting educational venues in conjunction with upcoming IPEs.
The co-location stands as one of the most far-reaching decisions in the history of both organisations. USPOULTRY is celebrating its 58th year of operation while AFIA is into its 96th year of providing service to the feed industry. The new partnership is expected to further enhance the domestic and international appeal of the IPE, already one of the nation's top trade exhibitions.
