China reports higher soybean imports in November

China imported 2.55 million tonnes of soybeans in November, the General Administration of Customs said Monday.

The volume was roughly the same as the 2.51 million tonnes imported a year earlier but was 34.2 percent higher than October's imports, according to the administration.

During the January to November period, soybean imports totalled 23.98 million tonnes, up 33 percent on year.

The administration also said iron ore imports rose 32.7 percent to 250 million tonnes during the first 11 months of this year, without providing any data for November alone.

It did not provide any explanation for the changes in imports.

Detailed trade data will be available late this month.
