Iran May Increase Wheat Production by 10% Next Year

Iran plans to increase wheat production by 10 percent next year if the country has good snowfall during this winter, said the director of Wheat Plan, Eskandari.

Attending a meeting in Shiraz, he addressed the Administration Council of Fars Province expressing hope that Iran would be able to export the locally produced wheat within the next few years.

He considered the measure a "defense" against political and economic pressures being imposed by other countries in an attempt to keep Iran in isolation.

At present, the average production of wheat per hectare in Marvdasht, Fars Province, has stood at 4.5 tons that would be enhanced by much more.
