China's November soy imports up 3.2%

China's soy imports increased by 3.2% in November, as prices which fell from a record high spurred purchases.

Shipments were 4.16 million tonnes, up from 4.03 million tonnes in October and compared with 5.7 million tonnes in November 2011, customs data showed on Monday (Dec 10).

Imports in the first 11 months rose 11.4% to 52.5 million tonnes, the data showed. Soy in Chicago surged to a record in September after the worst US drought in half a century parched fields in the biggest exporter of soy last year.
