Russia reports 35,000 birds die of bird flu

 

 

Around 35,000 birds have died from bird flu since late November at a poultry farm in southern Russia's Rostov Region.

 

Marina Abramchenko, spokeswoman for the Russian local emergencies ministry, said the birds started dying November 29 at the farm which holds some 500,000 birds.

 

Quarantine restrictions have been introduced in the area. There were no reports of human cases.
