US feed industry improves on mad cow rule adherence
The US feed industry is showing increasingly better compliance rates with feed rules designed to minimise mad cow risks, according to results the US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Center for Veterinary Medicine released on Dec 6.
The latest results included those from inspections through Nov 26 and showed that the US feed industry only failed three inspections since the last report earlier this year.
FDA has been releasing compliance rates results since the rules were finalised in 1997, with periodic updates occurring every four to six months. Since then, the FDA has performed more than 41,000 compliance inspections.
