Indonesia facility to boost Konspol's poultry meat sales to Asia

Konspol, a major meat processing company from Poland, is looking forward to increased exports to Asia. This ambition is supported by a recent launch to build the company's poultry meat processing facility in Indonesia.

The company, which has served the Polish market since 1982, carries a product range which includes ham, frankfurters, pates, chicken wings and sausages, among others.

While growing demand for poultry meat is expected due to rising domestic consumption, the Polish meat market is a very challenging sector, with "several hundred poultry meat processors", said Konrad Pazgan, Konspol's chief executive.

Therefore, the company's Indonesian venture is meant to diversify its revenue stream in a promising region where market conditions are less daunting.

"By producing similar products (in Indonesia) to those that we are currently making (in Poland), we believe we will be able to increase our competitiveness," said Pazgan.

Currently, Konspol's Polish processing plants are producing more than 15,000 tonnes of products monthly.

Pazgan also commented that profit margins are higher in Indonesia compared to Europe where Konspol's key export markets are the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, Ireland, Slovakia and Scandinavian states.

When completed, the new plant in Indonesia will mainly supply Japan, along with other countries in Asia. It will also propel the company's export sales which take up 30% of revenues.
