Ukraine provides agricultural producers 101% with corn seeds
Agricultural producers from all regions of Ukraine are provided 101% by corn seeds for the harvest of 2013 as they actively prepare spring crop seeds for sowing.
This was announced by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.
"The provision of agricultural producers with corn seed is 105,800 tonnes, or 101% of the needs. Besides, the State Reserve Seed Fund has prepared 2,300 tonnes of corn seeds for the sale. It is also expected a delivery of foreign corn seeds as it was last year, which was about 45,000 tonnes. Therefore, the issue of security and preparation of seeds for sowing is under control of the State", Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.
The Minister has also emphasised that the area under corn will not be decreased because it is one of the major export crops.
"Due to corn it has been increased grain export. We will not reduce the areas under crops. Agrarians will use seeds of high quality to sow spring crops. Due to this the yielding capacity will increase up to 20-25%. Besides, according to the figures of the regions it is planned to enhance the volume of fertilisers", the Head of the Ministry said.
