PT Harim Group building corn plants in Indonesian province

South Korean company PT Harim Group has begun building two corn plants in Indonesia's Pohuwatu district in Gorontalo Province.

One plant is for corn germination and the other for corn processing.

PT Harim Group also plans to build six silos with a combined storage capacity of 6,000 tonnes to support its corn exporting activity, said Gorontalo Vice Governor Gusnar Ismail.

The corn germinating plant was being built in Patilinggio sub-district to enable local corn farmers to have easier access to corn seeds.

The building of the two plants was based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the Gorontalo provincial government and the South Korean government.

The projects were scheduled to be completed by the end of 2009 and be operational at the start of 2010.
