Crystal Farms sells egg business

Crystal Farms Inc. of Chestnut Mountain, Illinois, has sold its commercial shell egg production and processing business to Indiana-based Rose Acre Farms.

Rose Acre bought Crystal Farms' nearly 2.5 million laying hens as well as the related equipment, facilities and inventory.

Crystal Farms will continue to operate its animal feed business under the name Crystal Farms Mills.

Crystal Farms produces eggs for grocery stores, restaurants and other retail markets. Established in 1947, Crystal Farms is the largest commercial egg producer in Georgia and is ranked 27th overall in the US egg industry.
