Five-year-old Thai boy dies of bird flu
 

Thai public health officials have confirmed that a five-year-old boy in central Thailand has died of bird flu, the government said Friday.

The boy died Wednesday in Nakhon Nayok province, and laboratory tests Thursday night confirmed he had bird flu, said health ministry officials.

He is the 22nd person in Thailand to contract the H5N1 bird flu virus and the 14th bird flu fatality. At least 70 people have died of bird flu in Asia.
