Sharper methionine price falls in China even as producers lift quotes

Prices of methionine tumbled during the week ending December 7.

Evonik-Degussa lifted price quotes of methionine in a bid to stabilise sliding prices in China but in vain, as continued to withhold purchases in anticipation of lower costs of the product.

Accumulatively, methionine spot prices have plunged more than 50% over the past four weeks.

A weak poultry market will continue to exert pressure on methionine prices.
