Brazil's IBGE estimates 2005/06 soy crop at 52.2 million tonnes
Brazil's Census Bureau, IBGE, said Thursday (Dec 7) that the country harvested 52,223,579 tonnes of soybeans in the 2005/06 crop.
The number is one of the final estimates and not expected to change much in December. IBGE lowered their estimate for the 2005/06 crop in November in comparsion to the 52.3 million tonnes estimated in October.
Nearly all of the 2005/06 crop has been sold.
Brazil is currently in the final days of planting the 2006/07 crop, estimated on Wednesday by the
National Commodities Supply Corp (Conab) to come in around 54.7 million tonnes.
