Market analysis

Demand for lysine softened as feed millers withheld buying after securing some supplies. Meanwhile, export demand weakened as well as Chinese products have increased substantially in prices, becoming less competitive in the global market. Consequently, lysine prices dropped substantially in China with more producers releasing price quotes.

In Europe, price quotes for Q4 deliveries were higher in the range of EUR1.32-1.37/kg amid tight availability. Q1 deliveries were quoted lower in the range of EUR1.30-1.35/kg.

Market forecast

Cautious buying mood will hold down lysine prices in the near term. However, producers will stand firm with supplies tight and prices of imported products staying high.
