Chinese manufacturer raises vitamin A prices by 20 percent

Shenzhen-listed Zhejiang NHU Company announced on Tuesday (Dec 4) that it will raise prices for its series of vitamin A products by 20 percent with immediate effect for all new orders.

Vitamin A is one of the key revenue contributors of Zhejiang province-based NHU, accounting for 23 percent of the company's total sales revenue in 2006.

Higher raw material costs, the appreciation of the Renminbi against the US dollar--which is affecting export earnings--as well as increased expenses needed to comply with more stringent environmental laws, were cited as reasons for the price hike.
