Japanese company sets up largest seafood processing plant in China

Japan New Global Co. Ltd's US$260 million investment in China's Xin Zhonghai Food Co Ltd has been put into operation on Nov. 28.

The site is located in Dalian's Ganjingzi district. 

The investment of this new plant is billed as the biggest investment this year in China's aquaculture processing industry.

The Ganjingzi district has greatly expanded its seafood processing industry in recent years due to the rich natural resources available and has become one of the largest seafood processing regions in China. Xin Zhonghai's facility would be used for further processing of seafood and capacity is expected to reach 20,000 to 30,000 tonnes annually to be exported to Japan, EU and the US. Revenue is expected to reach US$70 million annually.
