China threonine prices weak on decreased feed demand and abundant supplies

An eFeedLink exclusive report

Threonine prices in China showed signs of weakness, following more negative developments in livestock production and decreased feed demand lately. Abundant supplies of locally produced threonine have also weighed on prices.

Offer prices by local producers were in the range of RMB34.0-35.0/kg recently, while deals concluded with many feed millers were between RMB33.0/kg and RMB34.0/kg.

In recent years, threonine has been gradually accepted and increasingly demanded by Chinese feed millers. This has supported development of domestic threonine production to some degree. Besides two major local producers (Jilin Changchun Dacheng Industry Group and Star Lake Bioscience Co., Inc. Zhaoqing Guangdong) with significant production capacities, many foreign producers (including Ajinomoto Co., Inc.) also manufactured abundant threonine supplies. Additionally, some new local producers have started threonine production in some regions.
