China's Jiangxi expands rapeseed production

 

 

To ensure sufficient edible oil supply, the provincial government of China's Jiangxi announced recently that it will embark on a project to expand rapeseed production in the northern regions of the province.

 

Total investment cost for this project will amount to RMB30 million. Of these, RMB20 million will be funded by the central government. Jiangxi's provincial government will provide the remaining RMB10 million.

 

Under this project, good quality rapeseed crop will be grown in the districts of Pengze, Hukou, Duchang and Jiujiang. These crops will result in increased yield of 135,000 tonnes of rapeseeds annually and will be used to produce better quality rapeseed oil that are low in thioglucosides and erucidic acid.
