Australia campaigns to step up live cattle trade with Indonesia

Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) started a campaign in Jakarta this month, to step up the live cattle trade between northern Australia and Asia.

The campaign has been funded by the cattle transaction levy.

As part of the campaign, 30 supermarkets would feature cooking demonstrations, recipe cards and giveaways, said spokesman Mike Hayward. The campaign seeks to increase sales from about 650,000 cattle to over 750,000-800,000 head.

Indonesia is Australia's largest market for live cattle.
