Brazil's 2006/07 soy crop 90 percent planted as of Dec 1
Brazil's 2006/07 soy crop is 90 percent planted as of Dec 1, roughly on par with planting progress at this time in the 2005/06 crop, agribusiness consulting firm, AgRural, said Monday (Dec 4).
The no. 1 soy-producing state, Mato Grosso, will finish planting this week, followed shortly by Parana state, the no. 2 producer.
Brazil should plant 21.3 million hectares of soybeans this year, about 5 percent less than the 2005/06 season. AgRural put early crop production at 55.9 million tonnes again on Monday.
Brazil is the no. 2 soy producer behind the US.
