US detects bird flu in North Carolina

The USDA said turkeys at a farm in North Carolina State recently tested positive for a low-pathogenic strain of bird flu, which posed no threat to humans.

Routine tests revealed the turkeys on a farm in Sampson County had the H3N2 strain of bird flu, according to the USDA.

USDA added that the virus strain in North Carolina has appeared in other states this year.

Meanwhile, the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu has already claimed dozens of lives in Asia.
