China to see expansion of wheat planting ground

China's wheat planting ground for winter 2012 is expected to increase 66,667 hectares from 2011, according to the country's Ministry of Agriculture (MOA).

Meanwhile, the winter rapeseed acreage is likely to increase around 120,000 hectares on year, according to the ministry.

During the planting period, the government raised the minimum purchase price for wheat from the previous year's pricing.

Meanwhile, the country also appropriated in advance the subsidies for high-quality seed purchases and funds for yield promotion projects, which significantly boosted farmers' planting enthusiasm.
