Alpharma: Global expansion and reassuring solutions
With world production of poultry and swine poised to hike further on population growth and rising protein consumption, Alpharma re-affirms its commitment to expand in the Asia Pacific, as well as in other growing markets worldwide.
Currently, Alpharma's Animal Health Division (AHD) is aggressively pursuing new global market opportunities by utilizing its expertise in fermentation technology and enriching its product portfolio with new products and combination approvals.
Mike Hsieh, the company's regional marketing manager for Asia-Pacific says that Alpharma's overall strategic direction is to create a high value specialty pharmaceutical business and to achieve growth organically and through business development activities. The main focus particularly in the AHD is to continuously develop business in food animal markets, broaden the division's product portfolio and substantially penetrate developing markets.

Alpharma AHD is a leading manufacturer and marketer of animal health feed additives to the poultry, swine and cattle industries in North America, with a strong and growing presence in Latin America, Asia-Pacific and Europe.
With four decades of expertise in fermentation and manufacturing technologies, AHD produces its core Bacitracin-based feed additives Albac and BMD and also markets over 100 prominent medicated feed additives (MFA) such as Aurofac, Avatec (the only divalent anticoccidial in the world), Bovatec and other health products used for growth promotion, feed efficiency and disease prevention or treatment.
Globally, Alpharma animal health ranks second in terms of market share position in the medicated feed additive market segment.
