China's Heilongjiang province sees steady growth in dairy production
Commercial dairy production in southern Heilongjiang province of China is set to record steady growth in the near future.
Since 2005, the city government of Shangzhi, located in the southern part of China's Heilongjiang province, has been encouraging local dairy farmers to expand production capability, either through the use of internal funds or through collaboration up with established dairy companies.
Presently, there are 30 dairy cattle pasture grounds in Shangzhi region which hold more than 300 heads of dairy cattle each. Two of these pasture farmlands contain more than 1,000 heads of dairy cattle each. Shangzhi's dairy cattle inventory totalled 26,000 heads, yielding 150 tonnes of milk daily.
Recently, Jilin's Wutai Group added 2,000 heads of dairy cattle to its pasture grounds in Yuanbao and Heilonggong districts, both located in Shangzhi region.
Other than the Wutai Group, Songjiang Copper Industrial Group and Mengniu Dairy Group are also in the process of setting up integrated dairy farms in the region.
