Uganda to export beef to Angola, Congo

Uganda will soon start exporting beef to Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic after the initiation of a US$122-million (UGX290-billion) livestock industry.

The investment in Ziwa Ranchers in Masindi is being implemented by Mukwano Enterprises on a 62-square-mile piece of land in Kiryana Ranch in Masindi district.

The ranch, formerly owned by Capt. Joseph Roy, was taken over by Mukwano in 2002. The farm manager, Mohammed Iqbal, said the ranch would be stocked with over 40,000 imported Braham cattle from Kenya.
