Japan to boost Pakistan's agricultural sector
The Japanese Agricultural Association has shown interest in Pakistan's agricultural products and will help boost exports of Pakistani food items to Japan, said the group's president Yasuhiro Nakagawa, last Friday (Nov 26).
Nakagawa said that he was surprised to find out the agricultural land in Pakistan's Punjab province was one of the most fertile lands, and support would extend to Pakistan's farming community so that they could be able to make maximum use of it.
However, he stressed the need for adoption of modern farming techniques and methodologies to overcome low-yields.
Nakagawa added that Japan was currently importing a number of agriculture products from the other countries but the quality and standard of Pakistani products have impressed him a lot and he would plead Pakistan case in the Japanese market.
The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) president S. Ali Raza Saeed Shah said that agriculture and livestock have a huge potential for foreign investors, and that infrastructure to cater the needs of foreign investors is also available.
