Thai Cabinet Removes Tariffs On Corn, Soybeans From Neighboring Countries
The Thai Cabinet approved Tuesday an exemption on import tariffs of corn, soybeans and six other agricultural commodities from Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, government spokesman Sita Divari told a press conference after the weekly Cabinet meeting.
The move to eliminate import duties on these commodities is in line with an economic cooperation strategy agreed by Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, Sita said.
The tax exemption will be applied to imports of soybeans, corn, castor oil, potatoes, cashew nuts and sweetcorn from Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, Sita said. Imports of ground nuts from Laos and eucalyptus from Cambodia will also be exempt from import duties, he added.
