Iranian shrimp exports to Spain to resume but not for farmed shrimp

Iran will soon resume export of shrimps to Spain, but farm shrimps would not qualify, the country's veterinary organisation said Wendesday (Nov 29).

The farm shrimps of Iran have not met the quality standards of the Spanish health ministry, the organisation said.

Previously, a consignment of around 6,000 tonnes of Iran's farm shrimps was stopped at a Spanish port due to contamination of a medicine used in Iran's shrimp farming industry.

Meanwhile, officials from Iran's Export Development Organization and Info Fish international organisation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the expansion of mutual cooperation.

Info Fish is an international organization which facilitate consulting services to fisheries industries in Asia and the Pacific.

The organization consists of 17 permanent members and some observers such as United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organisation.

The MoU aims to facilitate mutual cooperation on analysing market demand, expansion of subsidiary industries, packaging, training and promotional activities as well as exchanging technical information,
