China's Xinjiang reports another bird flu outbreak

China's north-western region of Xinjiang has reported another bird flu outbreak among poultry. 300 birds died of the disease recently in Xinyuan county, according to the official Xinhua news agency.

The Ministry of Agriculture has confirmed that the virulent H5N1 strain of bird flu was responsible for the poultry deaths.

As a precaution, authorities have culled over 118,000 poultry within a three-kilometre radius around the disease's epicentre.
