Brazil new soy crop 77 percent planted as of November
Brazil's soy crop is 77 percent planted as of November 27, agribusiness consultancy AgRural said on Thursday (November 29, 2007).
AgRural expects Brazil to plant 22.4 million hectares of soy in the 2007-08 season and harvest around 62.3 million tonnes.
Good weather has farmers advancing their crop plantings after a slow start caused by either dry weather in October or abundant rain in early November.
Mato Grosso, the leading soy producing state, has 94 percent of its estimated 5.6 million hectares planted. Parana, the No. 2 grower, has 92 percent of its estimated 4.4 million hectares planted and Rio Grande do Sul, the No. 3 soy producer, has 55 percent of its estimated 4.2 million hectares planted at this time.
Brazil is the No. 2 soy producer behind the US.
