FIAAP to feature animal feed additives market in Southeast Asia
press release
Strict regulation by the European Union, threat of diseases, limited awareness about feed additives and cheap generic products are challenges facing the feed additives market in Asia Pacific, delegates to the Feed Ingredients & Additives Asia Conference will hear.
An overview of the animal feed additives market in Southeast Asia, in terms of unit value and volume, will be one of the highlights of the FIAAP Conference, to be held March 5th., 2008 in Bangkok on the first day of the Victam Asia and FIAAP trade shows.
Sri Ganesh, consulting analyst with the Frost &Sullivan Asia Pacific, will discuss pricing trends and the factors involved in influencing the prices of feed additives.
Amino acid, particularly methionine, lysine andtryptophan; feed acidifiers, and feed enzymes (non-starch polysaccharides andphytase) will be the main areas of focus based on their current levels ofsignificance in animal feed production in the region. The presentation willalso cover feed antibiotics and direct-fed microbial products.
The geographical scope of the research presented comprises Malaysia,Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. These five countries share a number of similarities but also many differences. One of the factors they have in common is that both poultry and swine sectors are driving the growth in the livestock industry. The major difference is that Thailand, as the only country in Asia Pacific exporting poultry in large quantities to the European Union, is most affected by EU regulations for the livestock industry and animal feed.
Frost & Sullivan, in common with other industry analysts conclude that the future of the animal feed additives market in Southeast Asia will be in the non-antibiotic growth promoters' market segment. Technical presentations on these and feed preservatives will be the focus of the remainder of the conference.
The conference would not be complete without a review of feed protein sources and commodity markets, however. Animal protein availability and quality will be examined, while Dr. Robert Swick, American Soybean Association - IM, Singapore, will be put on the spot to answer whether feed grain and oilseed supply will be able to keep up with demand in this import-dependent region.
The FIAAP Conference will be held along side the new Feed Ingredients and Additives Asia Pacific (FIAAP) trade show and Victam Asia,at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok,Thailand, which will take place from March 5th to7th, 2008. Delegates to FIAAP can now combine their registration with Aquafeed Horizons Asia to run at the samevenue on the following day, March 6, 2008.
