This year's Poultry India show in Hyderabad, India on November 28-30, 2012, showcases BASF's extensive range of products, solutions, and concepts for more efficient and sustainable animal nutrition.
As a leading supplier of feed additives, BASF offers vitamins, carotenoids, enzymes, organic acids, and other specialty products for a single purpose: to improve poultry diets and achieve better livestock performance, animal welfare, and ultimately more sustainable production of meat and eggs.
"Our goal is to make a valuable contribution to the nutrition industry," said Paramita Sarkar, Senior General Manager, Nutrition & Health Division, BASF South Asia. "Feeding India's and the world's growing population is an enormous challenge for both the feed industry and downstream food producers. By making animal nutrition more efficient and sustainable, we are helping to provide more food for more people, while at the same time conserving the earth's resources," she added.
Feed enzymes like those in the products Natuphos® (phytase), Natugrain® TS (NSP-splitting enzymes), and Natuphos® Combi, which combines both, help to improve the nutritional value of feed. For example, better utilisation of phosphorus from feed plants as well as other trace elements and micronutrients can be achieved by adding Natuphos to poultry feed.
The NSP enzymes in Natugrain TS, which are new to the Indian market, allow poultry to digest otherwise virtually indigestible non-starch polysaccharides from feed plants such as wheat, barley, corn, and soy, thus providing them with an additional source of calories. The enzymes therefore improve livestock growth and performance while consuming fewer resources and reducing environmental burdens.
BASF's organic acid mixtures, such as Luprosil® NC and Amasil® NA, have been successfully used by feed and animal producers to extend the storage life of feed and grains, and to improve feed hygiene.
