Pakistan, Argentina to team up in quality meat processing

 
 

A six member Argentinean high level called on Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) to discuss quality meat production and to establish strong breeding programme in Pakistan.

 

PARC Chairman Dr Zafar Altaf, briefed the delegation about the various activities being carried out at NARC and other research stations in the country relating to the livestock sector. He said there is urgent need for development of cattle breeds and quality meat production in the country.

 

Dr Zafar Altaf apprised the delegation that in Pakistan 93% farmers are small and among them 60% farmers have less than three-acre lands who have very low income. He said there is need to improve the income of the small farmers. Therefore we need technical assistance from Argentina, he added.

 

Rodolfo J. Martin Saravia, said that Argentina can assist Pakistan in the field breeding and quality meat production. He said Pakistan has great potential to improve the livestock and he assured that Argentina will play a significant role for development of Pakistan's livestock sector. He said that both the country will exchange information between the institutions to upgrade knowledge.

 

He also said that Argentina and Pakistan's scientists will also visit each other's country to improve this important sector of the economy.
