Thailand's CPF to increase EU chicken exports

Charoen Pokphand Foods said it planned to boost its exports to the EU, a day after the EU and Thailand reached an agreement on increased quotas.

President and CEO Adirek Sripratak yesterday called it a great export opportunity for processed chicken products. CPF's exports to the EU currently accounts for nearly half its total exports.

The higher export quota and a lower-than-expected import tariff would enable Thailand's manufacturers to gain a greater market share, he said.

However, he added that Thailand would be able to fulfil the EU's processed chicken quota of 160,033 tonnes within the next few years and its annual total export of these products would reach 200,000 tonnes soon.
