China Lysine Weekly: Sluggish demand weakens lysine prices (week ended Nov 27, 2008)

Price summary

 

Prices were lower in most regions.

 

Average transacted prices of locally-produced lysine were lower at RMB10.45/kg, down RMB0.78/kg from the previous week. Transacted prices of 65-percent locally-produced lysine were at RMB6.00-6.30/kg.

 

As for imported lysine, traders concluded deals at prices in the range of RMB11.00-11.30/kg. Prices for imported 65-percent lysine were lower at RMB6.10-6.40/kg.

Market analysis

 

Lysine prices in China fell as feed millers remained prudent while livestock prices continued to decline.

 

Additionally, soymeal prices fell to around RMB3,0000/tonne in some regions, further dampening the demand for lysine. 

 
 

Market forecast

 

In the near term, lysine prices are expected to remain weak.
