ADM to expand oilseed crushing plants
Agricultural processing company Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) has plans of increasing its North American oilseed crushing capacity through expansions at oilseed crushing plants in the US and Canada.
The company would expand five soy crushing plants in Quincy, Illinois; Frankfort, Indiana; Mexico, Missouri; Fremont, Nebraska and Des Moines, Iowa. Two canola crushing plants will also be expanded in Velva, North Dakota and Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada.
The expansions will support ADM's two North American biodiesel facilities in Mexico, Missouri and Velva, North Dakota.
A growing population, rising global wealth and increasing global energy needs and energy security concerns promoting biodiesel demand have been cited as factors driving the demand for oilseed crushing.
The company intends to complete expansion in mid-2008.
