Russia to lift beef and pork ban on Brazilian states

Russia's government said the beef and pork ban on six Brazilian states - Acre, Rondonia, Tocantis, Maranhao, Amapa and Roraima, would be lifted.

Veterinarian authorities have earlier banned beef and pork imports from the six Brazilian states, due to foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks in the country.

A Russian official said only farms accredited for beef and pork exports to Russia would be allowed to supply meat to the country.

Meanwhile, Russia still banned meat imports from Brazil's Para, Amazonas and Mato Grosso do Sul states.
